Take Another Road

Ok- so the kids have posted a few things and I need to catch up...better do it now- after being laid off I have a little more time on my hands! It actually has been quite nice. I get to go to the gym - watching TV while sitting on the couch- I mean elliptical- has its rewards (I think). After a month of going to the gym and only losing 3lbs, I think I am destined to be a size 20!

I also get to help a little bit around the house- the other day I emptied the dishwasher and loaded it up...not sure I knew what I was doing- still trying to figure out where the cheese grater goes.
I have been able to attend JT's ball games- this has been a highlight for me. It has been great to support him and also been fun for me to meet the parents of the players and start some new friendships. I have never seen so much heart and soul on a team. The closeness and family feel is unsurpassed- these young men are incredible to watch play and are even more awesome off the court! My hats off to all the players, parents and the coaches for a successful season!

On occasion I have been able to walk the girls to school and have lunch with them too. Not sure what they put in the cafeteria riblets, or what a canyon sub really is, but they are good...I love my girls.

Another milestone this year is I turned 40. Despite my negative anticipation, it wasn't all that bad. I already knew I was old and decrepit, just needed the paperwork to prove it. Growing up I sometimes shared a bday with my brother- his is the day before mine. I cant remember having my own party, we would double up- we had similar friends which was quite nice.

However this year, my sweetheart threw me a curve ball. Never in my life have I had a suprise party- Lots of friends and family showed up on my doorstep to officially help recognize the stench of 'oldness' It was absolutely awesome!! I never thought so many 'old man' gifts and cards could be found by such upstanding citizens...but they did! Thanks to all for making the day a very enjoyable (and tolerable) experience.

Deanna- thanks for planning such a wonderful time- and for reminding me over and over how lucky I am and how much I love you!

Well enough for this post- I will keep plugging away and if you see me wandering aimlessly just point me in the right direction...
