Take Another Road

Ok- so the kids have posted a few things and I need to catch up...better do it now- after being laid off I have a little more time on my hands! It actually has been quite nice. I get to go to the gym - watching TV while sitting on the couch- I mean elliptical- has its rewards (I think). After a month of going to the gym and only losing 3lbs, I think I am destined to be a size 20!

I also get to help a little bit around the house- the other day I emptied the dishwasher and loaded it up...not sure I knew what I was doing- still trying to figure out where the cheese grater goes.
I have been able to attend JT's ball games- this has been a highlight for me. It has been great to support him and also been fun for me to meet the parents of the players and start some new friendships. I have never seen so much heart and soul on a team. The closeness and family feel is unsurpassed- these young men are incredible to watch play and are even more awesome off the court! My hats off to all the players, parents and the coaches for a successful season!

On occasion I have been able to walk the girls to school and have lunch with them too. Not sure what they put in the cafeteria riblets, or what a canyon sub really is, but they are good...I love my girls.

Another milestone this year is I turned 40. Despite my negative anticipation, it wasn't all that bad. I already knew I was old and decrepit, just needed the paperwork to prove it. Growing up I sometimes shared a bday with my brother- his is the day before mine. I cant remember having my own party, we would double up- we had similar friends which was quite nice.

However this year, my sweetheart threw me a curve ball. Never in my life have I had a suprise party- Lots of friends and family showed up on my doorstep to officially help recognize the stench of 'oldness' It was absolutely awesome!! I never thought so many 'old man' gifts and cards could be found by such upstanding citizens...but they did! Thanks to all for making the day a very enjoyable (and tolerable) experience.

Deanna- thanks for planning such a wonderful time- and for reminding me over and over how lucky I am and how much I love you!

Well enough for this post- I will keep plugging away and if you see me wandering aimlessly just point me in the right direction...

Hi! It's me Rachel again! I would kindly like to tell you about a play I am doing at school. It's called Anansi and the Moss-covered Rock. My class has been working hard on our songs that we are doing, and the songs are called; number one; It's so Hot, number two; Anansi and the Rock, number three; We are Wise old Zebras, and last but not least, number four; The Lions and the Yams. Those are all of the songs we are learning, but we will be learning more, you will see! We haven't gotten our parts, but we will have them soon. With our songs, our hardest one yet was ( and still is) our song number two; Anansi and the Rock. We have had a friendly competition with all of my classmates. My class only has eleven boys and seven girls, (eight counting my teacher)when we had our friendly competition, the boy sang Anansi sees the Rock, and then the girls sang, Anansi sees the Rock. even we have less girls in my class, we sang better than the boys! My teacher was only looking for volume (which the boys have deeper voices than girls, which means that they can have more volume than we had) we, the girls actually had more volume than the boys had. My class has the last play in the third grade, which means we have more time to practice our play. So please wish me good luck! I will c-ya later!

Hi this is Rachel- I am doing a great brain project at school. It is about the piano and how it is made. I am not that far in it yet but I am working hard at it. I also play the piano and I had a recital a few weeks ago. And my piano pieces were Pat-a-Pan and Up On The Housetop. I have pasted a picture of me playing the piano. I love playing the piano. It is pretty easy playing the piano at first. that's all for now- c- ya - Rachel!

Here we go again...

Forgive me father- it has been a year (at least) since my last blog!
I tried to recover the old site- but didn't remember my password. I couldn't reclaim the old blog- so I figured to start again.
In order to stay on top of this- we are enlisting the whole crew- kids and all. I had heard of a company who will print/bind blogs with pictures- call it my best shot at a family history. Since the kids are more of tech wizards than they get credit for- we will see how this goes.
And so we go...
